SEASTOP


Seastop is a project which, aiming at improving the service level in 18 small ports in the archipelagos of Stockholm in Sweden and the archipelagos of Åland and Åboland in Finland.

The project was conducted 2018–2021 within the framework of the EU Intereg program Central Baltic.

The purpose of the project was to develop small ports to raise the level of service, support tourism and enable a living archipelago. Typical investments in the ports have been new floating jetties, toilets, showers, saunas and desalination plants for seawater. A total of 400 new mooring places have been created in the ports.

Through the project, more than 40 million Swedish krona (approximately 3,8 million Euros) have been invested in the ports. Värmdö municipality has been the Lead partner for Seastop, with the city of Mariehamn, Företagsam Skärgård, Bromarv Byaråd and Peterzen's marina as project partners. In addition to the partners, the project is co-financed by the Stockholm Region, the County Administrative Board of Stockholm, the Åland Provincial Government and the municipalities of Österåker and Norrtälje.
